Class on 11/28

Todays class, as it usually is, was very helpful. I never knew much about excel so it was kinda cool to learn how to actually do it. I liked how the lesson was right to the point. I understood everything that was explained. Excel will be very helpful when I have future grading to do!

Thanksgiving Break!!

Thanksgiving break was wonderful. All of my friends were home and my best friend came home from Kentucky. I hadnt seen her for three months! Thanksgiving dinner was really good. My mom made way too much fun and we have enough leftovers to feed a small country. I also started my new job over the break at American Eagle. My first day was black friday so things were a bit hectic. Hopefully it will get better! Two more weeks until winter break!!

Class on 11/14

Class on the 14th was about powerpoints. I already knew how to do a powerpoint, but most of the information was helpful. It was more of a refresher course and it pointed out things I never would have thought of such as the color contrast between the backround and lettering. Overall, the information was very helpful!

Class on 11/07/07-plagiarism

In my personal experience, I have not really run into any problems concerning plagiarism. However, I feel that plagiarism is a serious offense and in my classroom I will be sure to make sure my students know not to plagiarize. Plagiarism is taking someone else's ideas and making them into your own. As a teacher, I want my students to learn how to make their own ideas and get them down on paper.

In my high school, many people plagiarized and they were never really punished for it. They basically got a slap on the wrist and were told not to do it again. I feel that plagiarism should be reprimanded because it is a big deal. Plagiarizing does not show that a person has learned anything. All that it shows is that you know how to copy someone else's work. Sometimes plagiarism is hard to catch and people don’t want to take the time to look it up. However, websites like turnitin.com make it easier for people to check if someone they know is plagiarizing. When I am a teacher, I plan to make it known that I will be checking for plagiarism because I feel that it is a big deal.

Class on 10/31/07

I felt that today's class was also very helpful. The web searching was a little redundant. However, i did find it helpful to learn about the other search engines because i usually only use google. I really liked learning about the pictures and how to change effects and add text to them.

Todays Class 10/24/07

Todays class was very interesting. I had no idea how to setup a blog or wiki. I found that what we learned in class today was very helpful. I also enjoyed getting out early. :-)
